The range is organised in three sections. Balconi's snack-cake multipacks are listed on this page as well.

  • Wafers: Lago Party Wafers, Poker and Roll Break, Balconi wafers, the Polish names Jutrzenka, Prince Polo, Kaliszanka Grześki and Nestlé Princessa, Roshen from Ukraine, Franzeluta and Bucuria from Moldova, and Tago wafer rolls.
  • Cakes, rolls & pastries: filled croissants from 7Days, Boromir, Karuzo and Lotto, snack cakes and rolls from Balconi, Kandia and Sedita, gingerbread from Chaivdvoem, Volker, Franzeluta and Tago, and honey cake from Marlenka and Javine.
  • Mochi & Asian cakes: boxed mochi from Taiwan, under the Royal Family and Szu Shen Po brands.
  • Balconi multipacks: Trancetto, Mix Max, Snack Latte, Choco Latte and Tiramisu Mini.

Where it comes from.

Italy supplies the two brands buyers search for by name, Lago and Balconi.

The larger share is Polish and Eastern European. Poland sends wafers and 7Days croissants. Romania sends Boromir, Kandia, Alka and Magic. Karuzo croissants are Bulgarian, Franzeluta and Bucuria are Moldovan, and Marlenka honey cake is Czech.

Mochi comes from Taiwan.

Who makes the main brands.

Lago Group is based at Galliera Veneta, in the province of Padua, Italy. Gastone Lago founded the company in 1968. Wafers came first, and cookies, tartlets and doughnuts were added later.

Balconi began in 1953 as a pastry shop in Milan. Its sponge cake is baked at Nerviano, Italy, and the company is part of Valeo Foods Group.

7Days was founded in 1991 by Chipita and started in Greece with individually packaged filled croissants. It is now a Mondelēz International brand.

Formats and case sizes.

Family packs fill the wafer shelf. Lago Party Wafers are a 250g pack, ten to a case. Jutrzenka comes in 180g packs and Roshen in 216g packs. Balconi multipacks weigh 250g to 350g and come fifteen to a case.

Single bars and croissants are the till and coffee-counter lines. Lago Poker is a 45g bar in a display box of 20, four boxes to a case. Roll Break is an 80g pack, 24 to a case. Prince Polo XXL, Princessa and Grześki bars come 28 to 36 to a case. Croissants weigh 50g to 110g and mostly come 20 or 30 to a case.

Gingerbread mostly comes in 400g bags, twelve to seventeen to a case. Marlenka honey cake is an 800g cake sold singly. Mochi comes in 120g and 210g boxes. Every line in the category is ambient.

What to range first.

Lago Party Wafers and Poker are the steady sellers. Start with Party Wafers in chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla, add a Balconi multipack for the lunchbox shopper, and put Poker or Roll Break at the till.

Next, add single filled croissants from 7Days or Boromir near the coffee machine.

A Polish or Eastern European shop then widens by country: Prince Polo, Grześki and Princessa for Polish shoppers, Roshen for Ukrainian shoppers, Franzeluta and Bucuria for Moldovan and Romanian shoppers, with gingerbread and Marlenka honey cake beside them.

An Asian grocer or a bubble tea shop starts with mochi instead.
